One Direction

One Direction is a English-Irish, five piece boy band which consists of Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne. One Direction was formed on the seventh season of the UK's X-Factor. The boys all auditioned as solo artists but failed to progress to the judges house. But after a suggestion from Nicole Scherzinger a celebrity guest judge on the show at the time, the five boys were formed in to a band.

The boys got together for a couple of weeks to get to know each other and to practise, and in those two weeks Harry Styles came up with the name for the band, One Direction.


One Direction finished third place overall on the season seven of X-Factor UK, shortly afterwards it was announced that One Direction had been signed to Syco Records.

What Makes You Beautiful

In September, 2011 One Directions first single What Makes You Beautiful was released. This song received positive comments and sold 153,965 copies in its first week of being released. What Makes You Beautiful was number 1 on the UK's single chart and became the most pre-ordered Sony music Entertainment single in history.

Gotta Be You single cover

Gotta Be You was One Directions second single which was released on the 11th of November, 2011. This single was third on the Irish and UK singles chart. This song also received positive comments and being rewarded four stars out of five. Gotta Be You only sold 59,461 in its first week of being released.

Shortly after Gotta Be You's release One Direction released their first album, Up All Night, on the 18th of November, 2011. The album managed to top the charts in sixteen different countries and to sell 4.5 million copies worldwide by December 2012. Up All Night became UK's fastest selling album of 2011.

On the 18th of December 2012 One Directions first Tour started. The Up All Night tour finished in July 2012. Shortly after their tour started on the 6th of January, 2012 their third single One Thing was released. One Thing also received positive reviews and reached in to the top ten on the singles charts of UK, Ireland and Australia.

More Than This single cover

More Than This is One Directions fourth single and was released on the 25th of May, 2012.

Live While Were Young single cover

Live While Were Young was the next single to be released which was on the 28th of September 2012. The song had received some negative reviews as the song indirectly suggested sexual intercourse but the song still became top ten hits in fifteen countries, reached the top of the charts in New Zealand and Ireland.

Take Me Home album artwork

On the 9th of November 2012 One Directions second album, Take Me Home was released. Take Me Home topped the charts in more than thirty-five countries, sold over one million copies in its first week of being released and was the fourth best selling album of 2012.

After 1D's second album three more singles were released. Little Things on the 11th of November, 2012and Kiss you on the 8th of February 2012.

The next song released was One Way Or Another (teenage kicks) and was released on 17th of February and for the 2013 Comic Relief charity.

One Way Or Another was number one on the UK Singles Chart, sold around 115,000 in the first week of being released and its also the boys third time at being number one and seventh top ten in UK.

One Directions second tour known as the Take Me Home tour started on the 23rd of February 2013 and is scheduled to finish in October, 2013. The boys are doing 117 shows in total during the whole tour.

Louis Tomlinson

Louis Tomlinson born on the 24th of December, 1991 and is from Doncaster in England. Louis was born to mother Johannah and father Troy. Louis also has five younger half-sister and is currently in a relationship with Eleanor Calder.

Niall Horan

Niall Horan born on the 13th of September, 1993 and is from Mullingar in Ireland. Niall was born to mother Maura and father Bobby, Niall also has an older brother named Greg.

Harry Styles

Harry Styles born on the 1st of February, 1994 and is from Holmes Chapel, Cheshire in England. Harry was born to mother Anne and father Des, Harry also has an older sister Gemma.

Liam Payne

Liam Payne born on the 29th of August, 1993 and is from wolverhampton in England. Liam was born to mother Karen and father Geoff, Liam also has to older sisters Ruth and Nicola. Liam is currently in a relationship with Danielle Peazer.

Zayn Malik

Zayn Malik born on the 12th of January, 1993 and is from Bradford in England. Zayn was born to mother Tricia and father Yaser. Zayn also has an older sister Doniya and two younger sisters Waliyha and Safaa. Zayn is currently in a relationship with Perrie Edwards from Little Mix.

Cher Lloyd

Cher Lloyd born on the 28th of July in 1993. She was raised in Malvern, Worcestershire in England, she lived there with her parents and three younger siblings.

Cher Lloyd was on season seven of the UK X-Factor and she finished fourth place. Shortly after she left the X-Factor show Simon Cowell signed her to Syco Music. Cher had also tried for the x-factor previously before season seven but was to young to be submitted into the competition.

Swagger Jagger Single Cover

After Cher was signed to a record label by Simon Cowell she got to work on producing her debut album Sticks + Stones, which was scheduled to be released in November 2011.

Cher's first single was called Swagger Jagger and was released on the 31st of July 2011, in England and the music video was released on the 1st of July, 2011. The song received mainly negative views and was voted as the most annoying song of the year.

With Ur Love Single cover

Cher Lloyds second single was released on the 30th of October in 2011 with the video being released on the 1st of October, 2011, the song With Ur Love also featured Mike Posner in it. With Ur Love received more positive comments then her first single Swagger Jagger.

Stick + Stones Album cover

The next thing released from Cher Lloyd was her album, Sticks + Stones which was released on the 7th of November 2011. Her album peaked at number 4 and sold nearly 200,000 copies in the UK. A couple of weeks after her album being released Cher announced her UK tour which was set for March and April 2012.

Want U Back Single Cover

Cher's third single that was released on the 19th of February, which was taken from her album Stick + Stones was Want u back, the video for this single was released on the 6th of January, 2012. Cher received mainly positive reviews on this single as well. There is two music videos for the single Want U back, the UK version and US version.

Oath Single cover

Cher's fourth single released was Oath and released on the 2nd of October 2012. Oath also received positive views and Robert Copsey awarding the track with four stars.


In January of 2013 Cher Lloyd confirmed that she would be guest starring on the tv show Big Time Rush on nickelodeon and in February 2013 she also confirmed she is working on her second album.

Little Mix

Little mix is a four piece girl band that's consists of Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall. They were formed together as a band on the eighth season of the UK's X-Factor.

The four girls all auditioned as solo artists but all failed to make it past the bootcamps first challenge, the judges then decided to give them another chance by putting them in to the group category.

At first Perrie Edwards and Jesy Nelson were placed in to a four member band called Faux pas and Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall were placed in to a three member band called Orion.


These two groups both failed to make it through to the Judges house. Then a later a decision was made calling back Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall making the girl band Little Mix where they managed to make it through to the judges house.

Little mix managed to come first place, winning the season eight UK X-Factor.

After winning the competition Little mix released their first single, Wings which was released on the 26th of August 2012.

On the 11th of November 2012 DNA Little Mix's second single was released.

On the third of January the girls third single was released, Change Your Life.

Little Mix had their DNA tour that started on the 25th of January and ended on the 24th of February, the tour was launched in support of the girls debut album DNA.

Perrie

Perrie Edwards was born on the 10th of July 1993, she is from South Shields. Perrie lived with her mother and father and had an older brother, Perrie is currently in a relationship with One directions Zayn Malik.

Jesy

Jesy Nelson born on the 14th of June 1991, she is from Romford, London. Jesy was born to her single mother and had three siblings, a sister and two brothers.

Leigh-Anne

Leigh-Anne pinncock was born on the 4th of October, 1991, she is from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Leigh-Anne has two older sisters.

Jade

Jade Thirlwall born on the 26th of December 1992, Jade is from South Shields and born to single mother and lived with her brother.
